For the past 2 years, Beau and I have trekked up to Dallas a couple weeks before Christmas to go see the ICE! exhibit at the Gaylord Texan. We stay the weekend with my Aunt Mary and Uncle John and is truly something we've come to look forward to!
This year, of course, was no different! And since this was our third time doing so, I've considered it a new tradition.
We spent Saturday afternoon muddering around downtown Fort Worth. What started out as a little shopping experience resulted in $1 mimosas and boot shines for the boys. Either way-I'd still consider that a win.
Scuse the blurry iPhone pic.
Mexican food ensued our journey just in time to head to ICE!
What's not to love about getting a chance to visit The Gaylord?
All the decor and detail is so rustic, it literally SCREAMS "Texas"!
Love, love, LOVE IT.
Anywho-so ICE! is an event that the Gaylord puts on every year around Christmas time. They fly in 20-some-odd sculptors from China and millions of pounds of ice to create everything you're about to see.
Upon buying your tickets, you are granted a beautiful, bright blue parka that resembles a sumo wrestler mixed with an eskimo. Let me tell ya...pure hotness. (If blue is not you color, you are royally screwed.) But nonetheless, looks aren't important when it's a frigid 3 degrees inside the exhibit, right?
Riiiight.
Not exaggerating-by the time it's all said and done, you can't move your face or your fingers because they are literally frozen. I have also known a camera or two to freeze up because of the temperature (or lack thereof.) You know us Texans, we're definitely warm weather fans.
This year's theme was "Shrek the Halls".
(Previous themes have been Grinch & Peanuts.)
The colors, the detail, the engineering, EVERYTHING that goes into it all
is absolutely breathtaking.
Random Kung Fu Panda shot.
Who doesn't love Donkey?!
Gingy!
I need to know what kind of mascara she uses. Stat.
These lil bebes are my all time fave.
Anyone know where I can get one?! ;)
I already can't wait until next year's!
Seriously-if you ever have the opportunity to go to ANY Gaylord...RUN! Especially if they have the ICE! exhibit during the holidays! We cannot say enough wonderful things about the entire experience!
Happy Monday, lover butts..
13 days 'til Santa comes! ;)
Great pictures! This looks like such a fun tradition to start!
