Just Don't...

Things you should absolutely NOT do the week of Thanksgiving:

1. Start camping out the Tuesday before Black Friday to get the "BEST" doorbuster deals. Really people? Maybe if you were actually WORKING, you wouldn't have to camp out for days on end to get $200 off a TV. Mmmmyahhh...I'd rather pay twice as much before I set up campgrounds at any store. This is NOT what the holidays are about. I don't care if Pottery Barn was giving away furniture...I'll be celebrating Thanksgiving the way it should be celebrated...with family, and friends and lots of food. Oh-and booze, but that's a given. No tents necessary.
Sorry for the blurry pic but this is real life footage from Best Buy last night.
Ridiculous, I tell ya.

2. Give up dairy. (Or sugar, or bread, or any kind of food item for sanity's sake.) Take it from me...everything has dairy (and bread and sugar) in it, whether you like it or not. While I'll continue to be dairy-free for the rest of my friggin' life, if any of you are considering it...wait until AFTER the holidays unless you want to be that girl who brings her lunchbox to Thanksgiving dinner. Hey...I'll trade you my celery sticks for one bite of stuffing?

3. Work. I miss the boat on this one every year and will be working up until Thanksgiving day AGAIN but lets be honest...everyone is already in holiday mode. Businesses should really just start shutting down from Thanksgiving eve all the way through New Years Day. Wait...two days after New Years so we all have plenty of time to recoup. Who do we need to talk to about this?

4. Go to the grocery store. Unless you want to come out missing a limb and possibly an eyeball, you will avoid the grocery store at all costs. If you were smart, you would have already gone by now. If you haven't been yet, let me know when the funeral is.

5. The 99 workout. You've all seen it floating around Pinterest and it looks like that's where it's going to stay. Lets just say I saw it. Pinned it. I tried it and absolutely FAILED at completing it. (Consider this my Saw it. Pinned it. FAILED at doing it. post for the week.) I kid you not I made it through the set of 99 and 88 and wanted to commit suicide. Ok so that's a little on the dramatic side but really...my hip flexors and abs have never hurt so bad. Save yourself the misery and go for a light jog.
(Yes. It's as terrible as it looks.)

And there you have it.
Don't say I didn't warn you.

  4. Totally agree with your list! We have campers for Best Buy way up here in Wisconsin too. And it's been a balmy 20 degrees at night - crazyheads :) And I am unfortunately one of those who has to stop at the grocery store today, although for nothing Thanksgiving related. I'll send you my funeral information ;) Have a wonderful turkey day girl!

  5. I agree! I would also pay twice as much for a TV before setting up camp to wait in line for days. Glad I'm not the only one!

I did the Ninety-Nine workout yesterday...and survived! You can do it too! Once I got to the 55's, it went really fast.

  6. Hahaha...I went to the grocery this weekend. It wasn't too bad, but I was in there forever...mostly because I had to stop and call my mom 77 times, as well as text her pictures of certain products "this kind? or this kind?" I usually work the week of Thanksgiving, because hardly anyone is here (or at other workplaces), so it's laid back and easy, ha. Selfish yes. Also, I'm not a black Friday shopper. There's nothing I need so bad that I'm willing to get into a fight at Walmart. If ever I am so crazy as to camp out, please get your shotgun and put me out of my misery. Kthanksbye.

  7. I cannot believe that people are already camping out for Black Friday deals. I just don't get it! And I am with you - having to exclude an item from your diet can be so difficult around the holidays. I cannot eat gluten so I'm the girl brining my own food everywhere :) It's either that or not eat and there's no way I'm missing out on some Thanksgiving dinner :)

  8. Amen to the 100 workout that sucks ass! And camping out, Id rather pay $20 more and sleep in and do these people not work!

  9. So true! WTH is wrong with people?!? Tents? Seriously?! And, I love the power in numbers ... if the whole office gets slack b/c it's holiday mode, then this is proof that general laziness/checked-out-ness at any given time of the year would probably work, right?

  10. I will never understand the people who camp out for any release... whether it be a new gaming system or Black Friday. Is it really worth it to be camping out?! Especially before Black Friday where you'll be missing Thanksgiving. RIDICULOUS!

I may have missed it, but why did you give up dairy? Is it for health reasons or are you just trying to eat cleaner? Whatever the reason I can't imagine how hard that is, and am amazed you can do it you go girl! :)

  11. 99 workout?? I die just looking at that! And those people in tents are absolute cray cray!! I love my sleep wayyy too much for that biz-nass.

  12. Isn't that basically squatting? Meaning they shouldn't even be allowed to do that!

  13. I love this post! It is beyond great... I completely agree with it 100 percent! I will be spending Thanksgiving just like you :) I hope you have a great Thanksgiving girlie!

  14. Umm who made up that outrageousness? Maybe for my wedding. And that isn't happening for quite some time so we'll leave it at that.

Sad that we set up tents for two days for electronics but can't wait over an hour to vote for our next President right?

  15. Don't you worry, I'll eat all of the stuffing for you and me... and Beau, if he's on this non-dairy thing too. I know, it's hard to find a friend as good as I am. You're so welcome.

  16. I totally agree with not working during the holidays...i mean throw us a freaking bone!

  17. I made my swimmers do that workout. It took them two 55 min class periods and they about puked their guts out! Good workout.

  18. I agree with every single one of these, except the 99 workout... I'm not even going to kid myself haha! And the tent people?? Ridic!

  19. I seriously can't believe people are camping! What a joke! And what is worse, stores are opening ON Thanksgiving night!!! Arghh!! Enjoy your family/friends/food and booze holiday! I know I will be, and I sure wont be camped outside of ANY store!

  20. Wish me luck, I am that idiot that has to go to HEB today. I pray that I come out alive. Why do I do this to myself???? And I am glad I never pinned this workout...I would have died of heart failure if I tried it. And girl, people are cray for wanting to save a few bucks....those poor people that have to work and deal with those crazies!! Happy Turkey Day!! Eat lots of stuff we aren't supposed to!! :)

  21. Happy almost Thanksgiving! Tent people are crazy.

  22. I cannot believe that camp site! Already?! They must be nutso!
I did go to grocery stores yesterday. It was brutal, and I must be nutso too!

    Have a delicious Turkey Day!

  23. LOL I love you. Thanks for the laughs muffin. MISS YOU! Hope you and Beau Beau have a wonderful turkey day! I'm thankful for y'all! :)

  24. haha! Amen to #4. I went last night just for two items and it was a hot mess. Plus they just "reorganized" our grocery store. I should bring a lawn chair and bag of popcorn to watch that mess go down tonight. People were on the verge of beating some employees.

  25. I never shop on Black Friday! I mean granted, I usually work that day, but even if I didn't I wouldnt go. I worked retail in my teens and just NO. I have no interest in getting in fights or getting trampled to save a little money on crap I am probably just buying because it is a good deal. No thanks. That workout looks evil, and it it safe to say I will NOT be trying that. Nor will I be going anywhere near a store. Anyway, I hope you have a great Thanksgiving!!!!!! Xo

  26. I totally agree about the black friday people... MY WORD! Plus, now they do such good deals online I have no idea why you would want to wait in line or be crammed and crazy in a store! haha

    ReplyDelete
  27. Can't believe people who camp out days before black friday! It's ridiculous!

    ReplyDelete
  28. Oh my gosh! The 99 workout looks like a suicide mission...you deserve a pat on the back for attempting it. Why oh why do I feel the need to try it now? Ugh

    ReplyDelete
  29. Okay, so with the 99 workout, does it say you have to do everything consecutively? Cuz looking at the 99 set, I would break it into 3 sets of 33/33/33/33/3. Is that cheating? I mean, as long as you get it all done, does it matter?

    ReplyDelete
  30. Okay soooo I'm embarrassed to admit that somehow I was not officially following you yet on GFC?! I stalk you on here, Instagram AND Twitter, so not sure what my problem was, haha!! Hope you can forgive me, especially bc I saw my lil' blog name on your sidebar-- I was totally flattered! You are awesome girl! :)

And now that this is already a novel I can actually start commenting on the post itself, right?! That 99 workout looks crazy, and to prove how out of shape I am, when I first saw it I thought maybe you do the 99 stuff one day, 88 the next, etc haha. No clue you were supposed to do it all together!!!

    ReplyDelete
  31. #5...challenge accepted
I'm actually kind of afraid to try it.

    ReplyDelete
  32. All so true (and we don't even celebrate Thanksgiving) but I definitely agree!!
As for that 99 workout... eish!! I have to try... x

  33. I think every Best Buy in the Houston area was like that. Cray Cray!
