Bathtime, babies & snuggles...that's what weekends are made of.

one. Enjoying her newfound favorite toy (aka: mom's old makeup brush). Why is it that dogs love everything EXCEPT the toys you buy for them?!
two. Bathtime for our little girl. It goes without saying she hated every minute of it.
three. Baby shower for my sissy-in-law! She's currently in the hospital at 23 weeks, unable to move from a 45 degree angle, and fully dilated (yes-prayers needed) so her husband came in her place and we Skyped her during the entire shower. Trooper of a daddy, if I must say so myself!
four. Prezzies for my soon-to-be-here nieces! Would you expect any less from their waterbaby of an aunt?! ;)
five. Saturday morning status: every body and every toy in Oakley's pen with a Saved By The Bell marathon on the TV. She's the boss these days.
six. Date night at Lupe Tortilla's with my guy. I was bad. Really bad....beer + chips + tortillas...oops...but it felt so good! (Katie..."Can we get more tomatoes?"
seven. Baby shower inspiration for the shower I'm hosting next weekend! (Image from Pinterest. I can only hope mine looks 1/2 that decent.)
eight. Don't let those puppy dog eyes fool you. This little girl was an absolute TERROR 99% of the day yesterday. Tears were shed. Grandma was called. And by the grace of God, Oakley managed to make it through the day without me throwing her across the neighborhood. (Kidding. If you think I would ever in my life do anything that harm that sweet-looking demon -of-a-dog, you're out of your mind. But I wanted to...)
nine. FINALLY a very sweet Oakley rewarded with late night snuggles. Trying to soak in every single second of holding her while she's "little". Won't be long before she's bigger than me... :(

    2. PS-is it weird that for a split second when we were at Lupe's, I almost requested the same table we all sat at when y'all were here? Ok yes. Weird.

  3. How precious! And don't worry, I'm sure every pet-mommy has those moments...I do ;) Nothing wrong with venting! And praying for those little babies, they need to take their time!!

  4. Oh the puppy days. I promise, you'll someday miss them. HAHA Minus the wrecking of everything. :) Enjoy the puppy snuggles though, you'll definitely miss those! :)

  5. I just adore Oakley! So precious. I mean those wrinkles and sweet brown eyes. She's totally working the innocent, but a monster look. Minus the wrinkles, my almost 2 year old son has the same look.

And oh, my! I didn't realize your SIL was fully dilated! So many thoughts heading your way!!

And I will be linking up. I actually posted my post today since it went with our weekend plans. It includes a chip clip fort and a bubbly moscato sangria.

  7. Aww, puppy days. I have 5 dogs (no I'm not a hoarder, we just happen to be the canadian canine version of the brady bunch) and some days, I miss the puppy days. Then I look at my youngest Golden Retriever and remember what a menance she was, and I stop missing them ASAP. She was an absolute terror- and 4 years later likes to bring out the devil every now and again to keep me on my toes. I think she was the worst because she was a girl- my males never caused me such grief. My saving grace? Puppy. Bootcamp. For 5 glorious weeks, I would drop her off at the trainers at 8am, and pick he rup at 5pm. She spent the day with the trainer and other pups getting socialized and obedience school ready. I'm telling you, it was the best money I ever spent!! LOL

  14. i love when they are puppies. so cute and cuddly. i wish they stayed like that just a little longer though. it's really hard to have a 100 pound dog on your lap.

  15. Oh lord...as soon as I read that teeny bit about Oakley I started shaking my head because I KNOW THAT FEELING. ugh. It is awful They're so cute, but SO bad. so so so bad. Having a cat is even worse because it's so hard to teach them right from wrong and make them understand it. Patience (or my lack there of) will be the death of me (or Charlie.... kidding)

    1. Thank you sweet girl!! I was wondering what was going on with your cousin! Glad baby Jax (right?) made it out safe and sound. Super tiny, but nonetheless, he's here and will be perfect!

As for the dog...omg...no one warned me this was about 99% as hard as raising a damn infant?! It's a FULL time job, that's for sure!! I just keep telling myself...it will all be worth it...it will all be worth it! LOL

    1. BITING!! Grrrrr! It is driving me NUTS!!! I love her to pieces but I'll be HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY when this biting stage is done and over with!

    2. Chris was telling me you were getting super frustrated with her biting too. Puppy stage is awful! I noticed that you guys were using the water bottle method when I went over that one night to meet her. And while that teaches the dog that it is not a wanted behavior it doesn't tell them why it's not a wanted behavior. I know you got her at 6 weeks so she didn't have as much reinforcement from her litter mates when her play got too rough, so for the most part it's now on you guys to be her playmates and tell her that it hurts you. It sounds silly as all get out but honestly if you "yelp" when she bites you too hard and remove yourself from play, she'll get the message eventually. It's not about teaching them not to bite, it's about telling them that it hurts you when they do and then you don't want to play with them anymore. Penny was a HORRIBLE biter but we had her trained that it was inappropriate to play with us with her mouth by the end of the first week. Ian Dunbar has a book called "Before You Get Your Puppy" but it is SO APPLICABLE even after you've had them. He spends the entire first part of the book talking about teaching dogs soft mouth. Dogs that are trained "don't bite" retain the instinct to bite on accident if injured or threatened, instead by teaching them that it's inappropriate, you prevent any serious future damage. I really encourage you to read that book or just google what he has to say on it. Puppy teeth hurt and are stressful but she's still really young, and honestly the best part about teaching them not to bite is that it's all about playing with them! And sounding silly by yelping! It's also a good time to teach drop it with the toys.

Sorry this was really long winded, I know how frustrating this situation can be, but it's a really simple fix, let me know if you have any questions or anything, or if you think i'm a crazy dog lady now I also accept that too lol.

  25. I hope those little baby girls will stay put! Can't they sew your sister-in-law shut?! I hope she is feeling good and doesn't go too crazy on bed rest. I can't even imagine. But it will be so worth it when the babies are here.

Sorry the pup is giving you a hard time. Good thing she is so cute! :)

  26. I can't even handle the puppy pictures, they are ADORABLE. So jealous.

  27. Does she have a Nylabone? I found that really helped with the chewing and biting stages I just distract mine with her Nylabone whenever she's in a biting mood. You can also put peanut butter on it to keep them extra busy!

  28. I hope she eventually learns to love the water. Then you can take her to the beach!

  29. Prayers for you sis-in-law and nieces coming their way! Those swim suits are stinkin adorable. And, your pup is cute too! :-)
