How You Know When You've Hit #Crazydogmomstatus
...you dedicate entire blog posts about 'said' dog
...you spend your Saturday morning at a "desnaking" training course followed by Saturday afternoon with your regular obedience trainer (Proud to say Oakie will NOT go near another snake in her life!)
...your day is 100% scheduled around letting he/she out and making sure he/she gets enough love, attention and exercise
...the last 9 out of 10 Instagram posts are of...you guessed it
...there are baby gates scattered around your house even though there are no real babies in sight
...you spend hours cleaning your house only for it to be torn back to pieces in t-minus 10 minutes
...your shopping budget has gotten smaller but for some reason your dog budget is indisposable
...you have a Pinterest board solely dedicated for your pup
...you've recruited your sweet aunt to come over certain days of the week just to let her out & play while you're at work
...vacations, road trips, dinners, etc...are put off because you don't want to leave them at home with someone else...or at home in general
...Petsmart is a store you now frequent 2x/week
...your couches are covered in sheets #truestory
...your bed has become her bed
...your desktop, laptop and iPhone wallpapers are all covered in photos of your child
...ok...and so is your entire iPhone case
...your vacuum is now used 3x/week rather than 3x/month
...you can have the absolute worst day ever...I'm talking traffic, bad hair, slipped and fell, missed a deadline, started your period, NO GOOD DAY...until you get home to see a face like this:
If you agreed with more than 10 of the above facts, consider yourself at #crazydogmomstatus.
It's ok. You're not alone. The first step is admitting it.
6 months ago, I would have never thought I could love someone/something as much as I do Oakley. Okay...and Beau, too. ;) So this post is for all you dog lovers out there. Thank you for making me feel slightly less psychotic!

ReplyDeleteI am proud of my #crazydogmomstatus! I love my fur baby too! Your girl is precious!!!
ReplyDeleteI agreed with about 99% of the facts above...I'm definitely a crazy dog mom and not sorry for it :) I can't believe how much I love my dog and how much my life has changed (for the better) since getting my sweet puppy just over two years ago. Makes you wonder how crazy we will be when we have real children!
ReplyDeletei feel you sista! i smiled at everyone of these and nodded my head. so true. the things we do for our fur children....wouldn't change a thing!!!
ReplyDeletei confess that we have someone come over daily to let them out at lunch when Kev is not working from home. true story.
I hit #crazydogmomstatus the second I brought Walter home. :)
ReplyDeleteI never knew how much I could love a little dog until I got my puppy. So crazy!

I'm the EXACT same way with my Golden Retriever, Tucker. My boyfriend always says I love Tucker more than I love him, and he's absolutely right. That precious little fur boy is my LIFE.
ReplyDeleteWelcome to the club-those crazy cat ladies thought it was all about them! LOL
ReplyDeleteI have 5 dogs (No I am not a hoarder, the fella had 2, I had 3, and together, we are the canine version of the Brady Bunch :P). If I had to guess, 95% of my instagram is dedicated to pictures of my dogs doing what only I could consider is cute. Vacations? They are a BLAST as long as the fella can medicate me long enough to stop calling/texting the pet sitters daily. Oh- AND I have been contemplating purchasing a wireless d-link security system to monitor inside the house so when at work, I can just log on and check in on them. The fella says he is putting his foot down over that last one... Lets not even talk about how long a freshly cleaned house lasts with FIVE friggin' dogs. Sigh. I figure its still less costly and less stressful that children, so I'll take it for now ;-)
I love your oakley posts so much...so does that take me to a whole other level of #crazydogmomstatus ?!?!? I am right there with you and am 100% proud!
ReplyDeleteBeing a crazy dog mom is the best!!! I've been one for 3.5 years and I LOVE IT!
