One Year Anniversary Celebration {Part 1}

If you know me [at all] you know that I like to make a big fuss out of anything. Give me something to celebrate and you can typically assume I'm gonna go ALL out.

It's important , to me, that I make really big deals out of little things.
Others like to call it "dramatic"...I just like to think of it as my "thang".

Our one year anniversary...no different.

BUT! I did have my rules:

1. ONLY paper gifts. (No cash, checks or money orders. Please.)
((If you don't know what I'm talking about, refer here.))

2. ONLY non-expensive gifts.
Since we had a little weekend getaway planned.

and

3. There were 5 things we had to do throughout the week:
Open gifts
Eat the top of our wedding cake
Wear my dress
Dance to our first dance song
& drink the bottle of champagne that was gifted to us on our wedding night
***
Aaaand it all began at 7am on April 16, 2012
with [paper] love notes down the entire stairway...

Yes. That's 365 tiny heart papers; each with one word
describing different moments from our first year of marriage.

First dance lyrics framed on mini [paper] hearts.
[Thanks, Julie & Katie, for the idea!]

This man knows me all too well... [paper] books

It never dawned on me that I don't have one single wedding picture up in our house until I opened this.
I was so touched that he took the time to frame it himself. :)

Lemme tell ya...it was extremely difficult picking out Beau's [paper] gift but fortunately,
a co-worker gave me an incredible idea:

A bible.

But not just any bible...it was his grandmother's.
She used it up until the day she passed this last November.
It even had her name stamped on the inside. :)

Dinner and libations, obviously, occurred...

I think God each and every day for giving me a man who knows how to cook. ;)

One of our traditions is writing important dates on wine corks...

And then...

this happened...

Followed by...

THIS.

THIS.

THIS.

aaaaand THIS.

And when I turned around, Beau was standing there in his suit
& already had our 1st dance song pulled up on his iPhone. <3

So we danced.

And kissed.

And I thanked him for being such a good sport. ;)
***
Give a girl a glass of wine, a wedding dress and a bed to jump on and she'll be set for the night. ;)
***
So that covers gifts, the dress and the dance. Tomorrow's post will include eating the top layer of 1 year old wedding cake, drinking our bottle of champagne and our little weekend getaway.

  5. AWW!!! This is very sweet!

We saved a bottle of our wedding wine for our one year anniversary and two weeks before, I found out I was pregnant. So, we drank root beer and decided to save it for our 5 year anniversary. Of course, 5 years later I'm knocked up again. Damn it.
