Hump Day || Bump Day - 16 Weeks

I swear...pictures are deceiving. There really is something there!

How far along: 16 weeks

Baby size: An avocado...guacamole, please!

Weight gain: 5 pounds and proud of all 5 of 'em! I have no idea what's "normal" for the first 16 weeks but I'm okay with a 5 pound weight gain so far.

Maternity clothes: Yes! Well...not all...but the shirt in the picture above is maternity and I adore it! Seriously-the softest articles of clothing I've ever met. Also-I recently ordered this maxi, this maxi and this maxi from Old Navy (hello 40% off!) so they'll be joining my maternity collection soon enough! Also, my Bella Band came in and is making its big debut today! Hallelujah. I feel like I can stop pulling my suit pants up to my boobs and that I actually am starting to look the part. It's weird...you can only see "the bump" in really really low cut pants (or nothing at all and I'm doing you all a favor by not posting that picture) so next week's bump picture should look a lot more "true to size" now that my pants won't be pushing everything in.

Stretch marks: Nope

Sleep: Yes. Whenever and as much as possible.

Gender: If you saw my Instagram post from Monday, you would know that I could technically know at this point what we're having...but I don't. We had our gender scan this past Monday but I've sworn myself to not peeking into that little magical envelope and at this point, I really have no choice because Beau has hidden it somewhere in this house of ours. T-minus ELEVEN days 'til we know. ELEVEN!

Movement: Ummm I definitely had NO idea when I would legitimately be able to answer this question but as for this week...it's a big fat YES! After consulting with a few girlfriends that are pregnant and my sister-in-law, it seems like Baby H has been kicking/punching me every so often and I am just so stinking excited about that!! It's the craziest feeling ever! While it hasn't happened a lot, it's definitely occurred several times now. I think it's baby's way of saying "Hey momma! All is good! Keep on cookin' me, wouldya?!" A lot of people say they've felt "flutters" but mine have felt more like teeny, tiny muscle spasms happening a few inches below my belly button! It really is SUCH a neat feeling!

Best moment this week: Hands down...feeling that tiny little kick for the first time (well, first few times....since I didn't know what it was the very first time it happened.) Also to note...knowing that we are SO close to finding out if our little baby bean is a boy or a girl and seeing our little one on the ultrasound screen. I'm simply amazed every time they pull up babe on the big screen!  Pregnancy is so incredibly miraculous and I'm feeling very grateful to be on this journey. :)

Looking forward to: THE FREAKING GENDER REVEAL.

Food cravings: The main craving that has stayed tried and true has been pickle juice (no lie...my mouth started watering when I walked past the pickles in the grocery store) and Sour Patch Kids. And really...anything sour...green grapes and lemon in my water, too.

Weirdest food I ate this week: If you were to ask Beau, he would definitely say that drinking pickle juice straight from the jar at the dinner table is by far not only the weirdest thing I've eaten/drank, but it's probably the weirdest thing he's ever seen me do. I honestly just can't help it. And here go the jaws watering again...

Anything making you queasy or sick: Negative ghostwriter. And I'm still very thankful for that.

Labor signs: N.O.

What I miss: Wine. Duh. And I miss having curves around my torso...or at least a figure of some sort. My torso has felt like a barrel for the past month and I'm not a huge fan. OH! And sleeping on my back! Grrrr! Apparently week 16 is when you're officially supposed to only sleep on your side from here on out and the idea of that makes me cringe.

Symptoms: Headaches. Awful headaches that have been driving me freaking nuts. Also, pregnancy brain and growing boobs. Not a fan of any of these but I realize things could be a lot worse so I'll take the cards I've been dealt and just be grateful for them.

Workouts: 20-30 minutes of walking uphill on a treadmill, followed by 20-30 minutes of strength training twice per week. Hoping to get back to three times a week but that's yet to happen.

Things that suck: To be perfectly honest, updating that stinking chalkboard sucks, which is why this may be it's last debut here on the blog. I wanted to do all 40 weeks in hopes of making a Shutterfly album, like I do with all my other pictures, but to be honest, I'm not enjoying it anymore. As you can see, the chalkboard markers are getting harder and harder to erase every week (no lie...I spend a minimum of 20 minutes trying to clean that stupid stuff off). After it's finally clean, it doesn't take me much time to write on it, but I have to physically plan out when I'm going to look presentable enough and when the lighting is good enough in that room to take the picture in front of the chalkboard. I tried it and it's just not for me. Props to those of you who make it the entire way updating your boards every week but this chick is OUT! I'm hoping to catch some more "natural" looking shots outside or something, rather than posing in front of lame wall. Who knows...the board may be back next week. We shall wait and see...

Things that don't suck: 2 hour naps after work. I don't think Beau or Oakley are opposed either...

  2. The fact that you made it 16 weeks with the chalkboard was incredibly impressive. Once updating it becomes a chore it's time for it to go. Right around this time was when we moved my weekly pictures to outside because trying to find a spot inside on a day I actually did my makeup before running out the door for work was also exhausting. You look great, mama! xo

  3. I hear you on the chalkboard! I dreaded it every week! I had to re-paint mine every 3 weeks or so to keep it looking fresh. I think for baby #2 (someday) I'll just photoshop the week number on to a picture and call it a day!

    1. Julie! You are a saint!! That takes a lot of dedication to repaint your board that often!!

  4. I'm thinking it's gonna be a girl! The little tiny tummy you have more wraps from side to side instead of a little front bump. I also craved sour patch kids and pickles and my little girl is due in June! I think you will be joining me on team pink!

  5. What about doing a chalkboard with just regular chalk? I know it's not as pretty but it will still work. LOL. Or you could be like me and be completely klassy and take selfies bare bellied in the Target dressing room. Also, I feel like I am the ONLY person who is finding out gender at almost 19 weeks! Why does my doctor suck?! Everyone has found out way earlier than me!!! (Even technically you'll be finding out after me, haha)

  10. YES! I was going to do a chalkboard, and then I realized how much that would suck. So I just started taking pics and then using picmonkey to add in the week! :) You look great!!

  11. You're looking fantastic! And I am so happy to read that someone isn't going to be doing the perfect chalkboard stance lol kudos to those who can but it seems like a LOT of work!

  12. I have no idea how you are not searching for that envelope!!! Props to you guys for not wanting/needing to find out asap. We found out at the scan and then had our gender reveal party for all our family and friends. We just couldn't wait lol. I couldn't do that chalk board thing either. I just stood beside of it and took the picture. Then, I just used Picmonkey to "write" on it in a chalkboard font. Much easier!!

  13. Nothing weird about drinking pickle juice from the jar! I used to make pickle juice ice cubes and just suck on those! I love reading these kind of posts & look forward to more!

  14. My best friend is pregnant (8 wks) & mentioned that she has been craving pickles as well. I told her about you drinking the juice & she said, "that does sound pretty good actually!" LOL! You are looking great though!! I don't blame you for not wanting to mess with the board... seems like a lot of work & you could just type that info in your blog post & transfer it to your book later when you have it printed. Looking good though!!

  15. take a photo next to the chalkboard each week, but leave it blank, then photo shop your info on it each week, a friend did that and it looked real.

  20. Ahhh I'm so happy you've felt the baby! :)
I thought of you this morning while I was getting ready for work, specifically "I wonder if she's broke down and opened that envelope." You are strong-willed, woman.
I am with you on the headaches. I'm now on day 3 of a headache that hasn't gone away :(

  21. You should just leave the chalkboard blank and then put graphics on the pic when you edit. Viola! you're welcome.
