Warning: this gets deep.

For the past two years I have watched my co-worker's
husband battle lung cancer.
From chemo, to radiation, to strokes, to neurological damage,
he's been a fighter, to say the least.
And she is the epitome of strength.
Cathleen has felt like my work mom since I started so to see her go through something so traumatic is just down right nauseating.

Today the battle ended.
Cancer won.

Knowing what my mom went through and is still going through after 3 years of my dad's passing is a hard pill to swallow so knowing what's down the road for Cat really hits home.

...in more ways than anyone will ever know.

Sometimes it's times like this that remind you just how precious life really is.
How short but sweet each and every day we have on this earth is.
How beautiful it is to wake up each and every morning,
whether the sun is shining or rain is pouring from the sky.
What it feels and sounds like to hear "I love you" from your husband
or to hear your mom's voice on the other end of the phone.
How important it is to forgive and to forget.
And most importantly, to never take anything or anyone for granted.

It's 8:30am and I am already one emotional hot mess.
What a day?

So use this as a reminder to let your loved ones know just how much you care.

And can I ask one teeny tiny favor?
Please say a little prayer for my Kit-Cat.
She needs it.

  1. I'm so sorry that Catherine has lost her husband, I hope she can find some peace knowing that he will no longer be suffering. Thinking of you all.

Thank you for the reminder, it's quite easy to get caught up in the everyday rush and forget the importance of all the little things.

  5. Thank you for the reminder. I hate to waste a day over a stupid misunderstanding. Life is too short and God calls us to love. I am so sorry about your friend. I hope your spirits are lifted throughout the day as well. Praying for your friend as well

  6. I am so sorry :( Life is constantly surprising with both the good days and the blue days, but sometimes it's hard to understand why things happen the way they do. Just know I'm sending your friend a big hug.

Cancer, can you please take some time off. I work on behalf of breast cancer awareness and it breaks my heart everyday hearing about a newly diagnosed patient. Ugh.
