We're breaking up for today.

Well, well, well...what are YOU doing here???!!

You didn't actually think I was going to blog today, did you?!

Ok - I did.

But you won't find it here...

...because today I'm taking a break from my usual
sarcastic/witty/laugh-at-my-own-jokes-self
and gettin' real deep over at Stiletto's & A Fishing Pole!

Tell me she isn't GOR-GEOUS!!!!
And that hair....siiiigh.

So pack a tissue (or two), a hot cup-a-jo .
and head on over! (I'll beat-cha there!)

Kisses for ma misses!

  2. Wow! I absolutely loved your blog post! It was so touching and it made me choke up!

I too lost my dad, but I was 7. You're so lucky and fortunate to have had all those years with him. It was just a blessing to read that post and hear those optomistic words.

I struggle a lot sometimes trying to remember that it was God's plan and there is a reason why he took my dad to be home with him. It's just really hard sometimes to not ask "why?"

So thanks for posting that. Everytime I feel like I want to be upset about it I will re-read that post.

  15. I just read your post from Stilleto's & a Fishing Pole. It was written so beautifully and touched me deeply as I felt I was reading my own story. I went through a somewhat similar experience and you are so brave to speak so elegantly about such a devastating day in your life. I am sure your father is extremely proud of you for everything you have done and continue to do!

  18. I just read your guest post as I sit in the DC airport. I held back my tears as best I could. I am flying back home to Florida to see my dad. I'm lucky I get to see him. After reading your story, I realize how lucky I am. I don't get to see my dad often, as I am a military wife stationed away from my hometown. But I will hug him hard when I see him. I appreciate your strength and your willingness to share such a great life lesson!

  22. Katie (Keep Calm & Carry On) encouraged me to come visit your blog! She sent me the link to your vlog about children. I laughed so much. Freakishly, you remind me a lot of myself. I'm sure you now think I am a freak for saying that. I assure you I am not ... really.

So long story short, work blocked writing comments at work because apparently they actually want me to work. Anyway, I couldn't comment, but wanted to comment.

I visited my friend Jessica's blog today and there you were {again}...your very humbling and vulnerable story about your father. I cried. Cried because I don't know how you wrote that. How I admire you for your strength. It was a great reminder for me. I tend to get so caught up in work, life, friends and I don't take those few minutes to call the people that brought me into this world. So today, I stopped and called my Mom and Dad. My Mom started to cry because I just called to tell her I loved her. And my Dad? He told me my call made his day.

So thank you. Thank you for reminding me. Your inspiration and story will forever hold a special place in my heart.

Much love from the greastest fly over state, ever, Indiana ... xo, Aly

  23. Thank you for writing such an inspirational blog. My boyfriend just lost his Mom this past July. It was something sudden and shocking. Reading what you went through and how you processed and dealt with things is helpful to me. I always try to remind myself that everything happens for a reason...no matter how confusing it is and how heartbreaking it is.
