Saw It. Pinned It. Did It. - DIY Succulent Wreath

Sure, we're moving soon (News to you. I know.). And per yesterday's post, you saw that packing is in FULLLL swing these days. What better time to craft up a wreath when one townhome is being completely packed up and on the other side of the story, for a door that's not even installed yet? 

You see...there's no rhyme or reason to anything I do. The good thing is that Beau knows this and has learned good and well over the years to not even question my thought processes anymore. Smart man.

So yes. My wreath is technically front door-less for a few weeks but soon enough it will have a brand new, and permanent, home to live in!

Moral of the story: whether you're moving or not, making a wreath is always a good idea. Especially when it involves succulents and burlap.

However, I'm not the fake-flower kinda girl so I opted for succulents instead!

What you'll need:

• Wreath (any size or shape, but I chose a medium-sized round one if you wanna be a copy cat. I don't mind!)
• Fake succulents (or real ones if you can fancy a way to keep them alive? I don't have the patience for that so I got mine for half off at the Hob Lob.)
• A wooden initial (preferably one that makes sense. H for "Howard". See? Makes sense.)
• Burlap bow (optional for those of you not from the South.)
• Something to hang it with. (Most people would opt to buy a real wreath hanger but I'm cheap and used twine.)
• Hot glue gun (& it goes without saying you'll obviously need glue sticks, too.)

Organize your succulents in the bottom left of your wreath before you glue them into place. Once you've decided how you want them to look, glue those suckers down. (Sidenote: gluing ANYTHING to a wreath made of nothing but sticks feels nearly impossible. Rest assured after several burnt finger tips, 12 glue sticks and 30 minutes of holding them into place later, they WILL stick. Ok so 30 minutes is exaggerating a little...)

Voila!

Paint your wooden initial (I used a cream color), glue it to the top right of your wreath and slap a pretty lil' bow on there somewhere.

 

Oooh. Aaahhhhh....

Loop twine around the twigs in the back and hang from a regular over-the-door hook like so (or for you fancy schmancy folks, you could hang yours from an actual "wreath hanger". Pssh.):

Sit back, relax and bask in all of it's succulent glory! (& pray to God you don't wake up the next morning to fake cacti and wooden letters all over your floor...mine have somehow managed to stay glued on for 4 days now! Whoop whoop!)

Total cost: less than $15
Total time: less than 30 minutes

So how'd I do?! I'm not the "decorate for every season including President's day" type so I figured this one could be fitting for any season, yes?
