If there is one thing I absolutely love about summertime, it's the fact that when it comes to your makeup, less really is more.
Ok. Who am I kidding? There are eleventy billion reasons why I adore summertime, like for the swimsuits, the flip flops and the sundresses but lets be honest, getting away with light, effortless makeup makes summer that much better. Amiright or amiright?
Tone down your look this summer by ditching heavy foundation at the beach, dropping the smoky eyeshadow at the pool and forgetting about blush at the lake. I mean, afterall, who wants to be that girl?
That's right. No one. And definitely not me.
Then again, as vain as this may sound, I'm not that kind of girl who goes out in public sans makeup. No way Jose.
Don't think for a second I don't put on a full face of makeup when I go scuba diving in Mexico...
Without further adieu...here's a peek inside my "effortless" summer look:

Without further adieu...here's a peek inside my "effortless" summer look:
Revlon PhotoReady BB Cream Skin Protector - Absolute favorite beauty balm I've found to date! It's so lightweight but hydrates like a moisturizer, protects like an SPF, smoothes like a primer, covers like a foundation and comes in 4 versatile colors. Plus-it doesn't have all the crap in it like all the other BB creams on the market. Winning!
Revlon ColorStay Liquid Eye Pen - For regular, everyday eyeliner, I really prefer Revlon's pencil liner but for long, hot days spent out under the Texas sun, liquid eyeliner is definitely where it's at. The entire Colorstay line from Revlon is without a doubt fanfreakingtastic and does just that...it STAYS. If you were to break a sweat or get splashed with water, the ColorStay Liquid Eyeliner doesn't run down your face leaving you to look like the lead singer from KISS. (Ew. No thanks!)
Revlon PhotoReady Bronzer - Ahhhhh the bronzer. Seriously-what would I EVER do without a good bronzer like this one?! I know-I would probably look pale while the rest of my body was brown. The Photoready bronzer is pretty sweet because the combination of colors in the palette set to the tone of your skin so that you don't come out looking like an Oompa Loompa. Ain't nobody got time for dat.
Revlon Lash Potion (waterproof) - I'm not a huge waterproof mascara kinda girl. For one, I rarely dunk my head underwater when I'm at the pool and for two, I usually don't like the residue it leaves behind on my lashes. This one...however...has changed my POV on waterproof mascaras. Yes-it's waterproof so if shizz got crazy and I felt the urge to swim like a fish underwater, I could. But most of all, after I wear it, it doesn't leave behind a layer of cakey mascara for days on end. You know what I'm talking about girls...
Finally...Revlon ColorStay Concealer - Yep....Revlon for the win...again! I've used many concealers in the past but always find myself resorting back to this one because it not only brightens around my eyes but I also use it on problem areas when I breakout and it doesn' leave that nasty "concealed" look.
Oh-and I must tell you I have found the end all be all when it comes to makeup/cosmetic bags. You are oh-so welcome.

I guess it goes without saying that Revlon has definitely TOPPED the charts for me when it comes to my makeup routine these days. (I've mentioned it before but I'll say it again...you HAVE to try their ColorStay Liquid Foundation. Life changing, y'all. Life. Changing) I just can't help it - they have good products, great coverage and even better prices. Need I say more?! I guess you could say Revlon is my best kept beauty secret!

My makeup secret is never to use my fingers when applying my foundation (or dabbing concealer, etc), instead, I am always sure to use a soft makeup sponge to apply my foundation, and a q-tip to apply any concealer spot treatment.

It's really not a secret but I started using Simple Skincare Products (you can find them at Wal-Mart or Walgreens or Target) and my skin has never felt better. The cleanser is amazing and the moisturizer isn't heavy and keeps me from getting oily. I said buh-bye to expensive cleansers and moisturizers and love it!
ReplyDeleteI swear by makeup primers! Love my Philosophy face primer and my MAC prep and prime eyelash primer!
ReplyDeleteleah.hart1@gmail.com
I wouldn't call it a secret, but I swear by Revlon's ColorStay liquid makeup! I was a Clinique girl for years upon years, but after reading several reviews on Revlon I made the switch and I have never looked back. I'm pale, like Twilight pale, and Revlon has so many color options that even I can find something light enough for me. It's the perfect lightweight coverage that stays on all day long!
ReplyDeleteI love a good primer and tinted moisturizer - perfect amount of coverage for summer days!
ReplyDeleteHow do you apply your BB cream? with a sponge or with your hands? I've tried a few different ones that feel more like makeup than moisturizer...
ReplyDeleteIn the summer, with all the Kentucky humidity, I tend to get oily on my face. So to combat this I always dab on some Benefit POREfessional pore minimizer under my everyday pressed powder. It not only works to minimize the pores, but it really helps keep the oil from shining through.
ReplyDeleteMy make up secret is using a matte finishing powder applied ontop of foundation. It's perfect for hot summer days when skin tends to be a bit more oily!
ReplyDeleteMy best beauty secrets are:
ReplyDeleteUsing make up primer, and eye primer. There is no point in putting foundation or eye shadow on without primer to make everything "stick".
Also, I go super heavy on the SPF on my face in the summer. I usually apply a moisturizer with 60 SPF on my face before my BB cream that has 30 SPF and then my foundation that has 20 SPF...not sun spots on my face. (fingers crossed)
Hi Steph!
ReplyDeleteLove seeing a Vera product shout out, especially on one of my favorite blogs:) I work at VB Headquarters in Product Development. Glad you love it!:)
What?! SO cool! Yes-this is by far my FAVORITE makeup bag I've ever owned! If you or anyone in the marketing department ever need a "product tester/reviewer", I'm your girl! ;) xo
DeleteMy biggest beauty secret is to get enough rest and drink lots of water! Besides those two, always wearing an SPF and eye shadow primer.
ReplyDeleteI swear by illuminator and use it all over my face -- in my cupid's bow, in the inner corners of my eyes, under my brows and on my cheekbones.
ReplyDeleteDbyrne1[at]gmail[dot]com
It's certainly not a secret, by any means, but I've found it's super important to let your moisturizer dry on your face before applying makeup. It reduces oil and shine, and hydrates so much better!
ReplyDeleteI use coconut oil as a deep conditioner once a week.

ReplyDeletemake sure you use an SPF everyday either in your moisturizer or your foundation. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteMy best kept beauty secret is staying hydrated. I have a natural glow, but if I don't stay hydrated, I lose that glow, which makes it hard to put makeup on without looking weird.
ReplyDeleterainpendragon2684[at]yahoo[dot]com
Contrary to popular belief, it's not good to wash your hair everyday since it strips the hair of its natural oils. Therefore, I don't wash it everyday. I also tame the flyaways with organic coconut oil. :)
ReplyDeleteHilLesha(at)twc(dot)com
After I put on my makeup, I lightly brush my face with baby powder to set my makeup and keep oil away. I've done this for years and it works really well.
